No doubt you are aware that there is continuously updated advice on cleaning and protecting ourselves against Covid19. There are also very thorough guidelines and best practices for self-catering accommodation. We have signed up to Airbnb’s Enhanced Cleaning Practices and have always had a 9.9 rating on Booking.com for cleanliness, both previously and now.
As with everything to do with The Apple Loft we consider what we would like if we were visiting and then do exactly that. The guidelines for ‘same day stays’ (where one guest leaves and the next arrives the same day) recommend that everything has to be taken out (not the furniture!), the rooms deep cleaned from top to bottom and then sanitised. Then finally the bed is made, everything is moved back in and then re-stocked. We are leaving at least one day between guests. So we don't remove absolutely everything, for example if the ironing board has not been used then we leave it tucked away in its corner, inside its cover. The same for board games and other unused items. For your visit not only will you have freshly washed and ironed bed linen and towels as usual, but also everything else will have been changed, including bed side mats, covers on the back and arms of the armchairs cushions and the shower curtain. So you can be sure that everything is squeaky clean - either washed or sanitised or been quarantined or replaced ~ whatever is appropriate. I have learned some new techniques, including how to steam clean curtains, how to put a shower curtain liner through the washing machine and what it’s like to clean with a mask on! (You get used to it) And I’m always grateful for suggestions or ideas. |
