Wonderful walksWe live on a 1,400 acre common with open access, so fantastic walking straight from the doorstep. You can have a magical evening watching the sunset over the Welsh hills from Croft Ambrey, an iron age fort on top of the common or take a picnic. There are beautiful walks through Fishpool Valley to Croft Castle, with dappled sunlight through the trees and a series of rebuilt dams, ponds and streams through the valley.

Historical sightsLudlow is about eight miles, popular all year with a castle and museum. In other directions there is a black and white village trail, cheesemaking, the Mappa Mundi in Hereford and Ross on Wye with its famous bookshops. We are only a few miles from the Welsh border, a wonderful area to explore either driving or walking.

Local wildlifeThe local countryside offers the timeless sound of bleating sheep and you may occasionally spot shyer creatures too. The pictures of the deer were taken on the common on a cold crispy morning. There is a great variety of wildlife here, some rare butterflies and many birds including the occasional red kite.
